Whimsies were generally non-production articles made by gaffers for personal use or for gifts. They were frequently made from end of day or leftover glass. They were usually imaginative items, such as glass pens or canes or sock darners.
There is a specific club for collectors and enthusiasts of whimsies. They have an excellent web site.
